Letter: Bloodmobile to be held July 19 and 20
To the editor:
Summer activities are in full swing, so is the continued need for blood nationwide.
The following statements come from the American Red Cross and the need for blood donors:
• One donation can potentially save up to three lives.
• Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
• Less than 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood or platelets.
• Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors.
• Only 7 percent of people in the U.S. have the universal blood type 0 negative.
