Letter: Concerned about park ‘dead zones’
I have environmental and health concerns about the dead zones around the trees and metal posts in Patton Park and along the lakeshore. A friend just told me Hok-si-la Park has the same dead zones around trees.
I realize that killing the vegetation with poison is more convenient than trimming manually (even with a whacker that doesn’t harm the bark on the trees), but public safety and environmental issues must take priority over expediency. Besides, it looks horrible.
