There is an old saying, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” If applied to me the wording would have to be modified to, “Cleanliness is next to Impossible.” The facts bear witness to my slovenliness especially during a 2 ½ year period beginning 18 years ago when two of the mainstays in my life passed away. My wife of 30 years, Barbara died of COPD and two days later at age 91 my father died of congestive heart failure. It took a while for me to become grounded again.
