Letter: Selling public safety building property would be shortsighted

To the editor:

Last Monday’s City Council meeting again addressed the future for the former Public Safety property.

Whether the existing structure has a viable use has been summarized as “no.” But the Council is weighing selling the building for some undetermined use when the downtown as a whole, and the library in particular, cries out for more parking.

“That’s nuts!” said Council member Phil Gartner. “I can’t imagine why they would sell property abutting the library!”
